The Unesco “Protection and promotion of cultural food heritages” chair, led by the François-Rabelais University of Tours, aims to promote a better knowledge of food heritages and to support the projects of identifications and classifications of these heritages.

The UNITWIN/Unesco chair program aims to put in common and transfer the knowledge, in a purpose of developing North-South relations. A Unesco chair is an organization of international scientific events with activities of training, research and academic exchanges. That leads to both create regional center of excellence and reinforce the process of networks and partnerships.

For almost ten years, the François-Rabelais University is committed in a process leading to make the issue of food a center of excellence. As part of the Unesco chair and in partnership with an international network of universities and research organisms, the François-Rabelais University wants to make researches in food studies more dynamic.
